Yukta Garg Foundation donates $10K - The Centerville Dispatch , Thursday April 5, 2018

The check was formally presented to the Fiscal Officer Gary P. Smiga at the Board of Trustee Meeting on April 2, 2018

Here are few excerpts from our speech at the meeting:

It is our honor and privilege to be with you all this evening. It is indeed a very happy occasion for all of us. We can see the butterfly playground that we all worked for. The countless hours put in by all residents, most specifically by the township staff, has take a beautiful form. We see children playing, laughing, smiling and simply chasing butterflies, having a time of their life with one-of-a-kind Butterfly Playground. It is not just the children, the parents, grandparents also gather there with the kids. It has become a place where relationships are formed, friendships are made and a place where the entire community come together to enjoy.

We have no words for our gratitude to the entire Washington Township staff and Trustees for their unconditional and continuous support. There is so much positivity in every individual that we have interacted with, and it is contagious. It motivates us even further. We would also like to say a big thank you to all donors, and the entire community, for their generosity and continuous support.

At times when our own light goes out, it is rekindled by a spark from another person. Heartfelt thanks to all of the them for the powerful spark.

With deep gratitude for your kindness, compassion, and cooperation, we look forward to continue working with you all.

- Arti and Hemant Garg

A new Butterfly Playground that expands creative play opportunities for children opened on Saturday, October 26, with a dedication celebration that includes musical performances by kids at 2 p.m. and a ribbon cutting at 2:30 p.m. in Countryside Park, next to the Washington Township Recreation Center at 895 Miamisburg-Centerville Rd.

Saturday marks the installation of the first two areas of the playground -- the Nature Sounds and Butterfly Meadow areas. Nature Sounds offers a music and theater space for creative play, while Butterfly Meadow offers a place to climb and play. Both are handicapped accessible.

The first two phases include:

Nature Sounds Area –

A stage provides the focal point and is surrounded by three large, outdoor musical pieces -- including a grouping of five hand drums, a metalophone, and chimes that are 9-feet tall. Concrete seating offers a place for parents and others to enjoy the show. Nature Sounds is located behind the Rec Center.

Butterfly Meadow Area –

A spider-web like structure offers a place for kids five and older to climb and play, while lady bugs provide smaller climbing opportunities. A nearby toddler area includes a bridge, slide, steps for climbing, and springy poles to stand on and practice balancing skills. Both sections are decorated with butterflies and located near the park’s A-frame shelter.
